By reconstructing the closing scene that vanished from ballet tradition nearly a century ago, the ballet company of the Hungarian State Opera will premiere La Bayadère, one of the most successful collaborations between choreographer Marius Petipa and composer Ludwig Minkus on 14 June 2025. As his choreographic debut, company ballet master Albert Mirzoyan created the ending of this spectacular gem of classical ballet, based on the original libretto.
With ornate, period-appropriate sets by Krisztina Lisztopád and a renewed concept by András Almási-Tóth, Amilcare Ponchielli's opera La Gioconda is performed at the Ybl Palace on Andrássy Avenue between 8 and 20 June 2025. The main roles are sung by Zsuzsanna Ádám and Francesca Tiburzi, Atala Schöck, Csaba Szegedi, Andrea Szántó, István Kovácsházi and Stefano La Colla, as well as Krisztián Cser. The ensembles of the Hungarian State Opera are conducted by János Kovács.
On 1 June 2025, during the curtain call following a performance of Don Carlo, the outstanding soprani was surprised with the announcement that she would be one of the recipients of the Hungarian State Opera's greatest honour for the next season. She was presented with a swan-shaped award made by the Herend Porcelain Manufactory by artistic director András Almási-Tóth, amidst the celebration of her colleagues and the audience.
