The Hungarian State Opera commemorates 1956 with works by Zoltán Kodály
The Hungarian State Opera’s 1956/70 – Kodály Gala Concert presents a selection of Zoltán Kodály’s emblematic works. The programme on 10 October features Psalmus Hungaricus and Háry János Suite as well as the ballet music from the stage work also known as Dragon Dance, first performed a century ago. The concert also provides the occasion for the ceremonial presentation of the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award at the Opera House, which was awarded for the comprehensive restoration of the Ybl Palace.Oct. 8, 2026, 4:40 p.m. -
Tosca up close – Puccini’s masterpiece in the Opera IC Audiophile Series
Love, jealousy, political terror and murder – Puccini’s Tosca, one of the composer’s most gripping operas, takes on a special, highly detailed sonic dimension at the Hungarian State Opera as part of the Opera IC Audiophile series. Erika Miklósa returns to Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail
Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Searil returns to the stage of the Opera’s Eiffel Art Studios between 17 and 24 October 2026, starring Kossuth Prize-winning coloratura soprano Miklósa Erika. The production, directed by Miklós H. Vecsei, featuring a translation by Dániel Varró and video animations by Kiégő Izzók, stars Artúr Szeleczki, Boglárka Brindás, Balázs Papp, and László Szvétek, with Tibor Bogányi conducting the ensembles of the Hungarian State Opera.
