VITTORIO GRIGOLO
In Brief
Song and aria recital in two parts, with Hungarian, English, and same-language subtitles
Tuscany-born Italian star tenor was destined to be an opera singer from the start. The parents of Vittorio Grigolo realised the extraordinary musicality in their son, who was barely ten when he began to sing in the Sistine Chapel Choir. Soon, an experience to determine his whole life and career took place: at the age of 13, he sang the role of the Shepherd boy in Tosca beside Luciano Pavarotti in Rome. The legendary tenor perdicted a stellar career for him and was proved right. Grigolo made his debut at La Scala in Milan as the youngest ever tenor. Following the Italian stages, he received invitations from German, Austrian, British, American, and Japanese opera houses, and he is known all over the world thanks to various CDs and film recordings. His core repertoire consists of Italian and French operas, but he is also a sought-after soloist in oratorios. He has published a number of albums showcasing his most iconic roles as well as selections from church music and more popular genres, and the 2007 recording of West Side Story was nominated for a Grammy Award. The Hungarian audience has already seen him in a romantic opera gala at the Margaret Island, accompanied by the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, and now it is time for them to see a more intimate side of him.
